Dennis Smith and Rudy Nelson
Co-authors and documentary videographers



For the past 25 years, Dennis Smith has been a mission co-worker in Guatemala for the Presbyterian Church (USA).

He is Coordinator of Publications and Communication Training for the ecumenical organization CEDEPCA.

Recently, he has served as president of COVERCO — an independent monitoring organization that verifies adherence to corporate codes of conduct.

He was also the in-country project director for the 2003 video documentary “Precarious Peace: God and Guatemala.”

Rudy Nelson, Associate Professor of English (emeritus), University at Albany, earned a Ph.D. in American Civilization at Brown University.

He is the author of "The Making and Unmaking of an Evangelical Mind: The Case of Edward Carnell" (Cambridge University Press, 1987). His book is an intellectual biography of an American theologian.

In 2003, he and his wife Shirley wrote and produced the video documentary “Precarious Peace: God and Guatemala.”
