Dov Waxman

Dov Waxman

Dov Waxman is an assistant professor in the Political Science Department at Baruch College of the City University of New York.

His research concerns the impact of identity politics in international relations and the politics of the Middle East.

Previously, he taught in the Department of Government at Bowdoin College, was a visiting scholar at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey — and a visiting fellow at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle East and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, Israel.

Mr. Waxman has also worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. He received his Bachelors degree from Oxford University, and his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University.

He is the author of The Pursuit of Peace and the Crisis of Israeli Identity: Defending / Defining the Nation (Palgrave Macmillan, 2006). He has also written three monographs, The Crisis of Identity in Post-Kemalist Turkey: Domestic Discord and Foreign Policy (1998), The Islamic Republic of Iran: Between Revolution and Realpolitik (1998), and Immigration and Identity: A New Security Perspective in Euro-Maghreb Relations (1997).

Mr. Waxman also serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Israel Studies and is the Associate Editor of the scholarly journal Israel Studies Forum.
