Bill Bradley
Author, former athlete, U.S. Senator and presidential candidate

Bill Bradley is a three-time basketball All-American, a player with the New York Knicks for ten years, an Olympic gold medalist, a Rhodes scholar, a former U.S. Senator and a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2000.

His books include Life on the Run (1987), Time Present, Time Past: A Memoir (1997), Values of the Game (1998) and The Journey From Here (2000).


 


Carl Bildt
Former Swedish Prime Minister

Carl Bildt served as Sweden's Prime Minister from 1991 to 1994. He was a member of the Swedish Parliament from 1976 to 2001 — and negotiated Sweden's accession to the European Union. He has also been very active in resolving the conflict in the Balkans.

His published works include: The Country that Stepped Out into the Cold (1972), A Future in Freedom (1976), A Citizen of Holland, Sweden and Europe (1991) and Peace Journey (1997).

He is also a contributor to The Globalist.

 


Joyce Davis
Radio/newspaper journalist and author

Joyce Davis is the former deputy foreign editor for Knight Ridder Newspapers, which owns 32 newspapers throughout the United States, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The San Jose Mercury News and The Detroit Free Press.

Ms. Davis has also served as the foreign editor and director of news staffing at National Public Radio. She currently works in Prague as the Associate Director of Broadcasting for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

In her more than 30 years of journalism, Ms. Davis has been a reporter, columnist and editor in both broadcast and print. She began her journalism career at The New Orleans Times-Picayune.

She is also a contributor to The Globalist.

 


Joseph Nye
Former Dean, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, 1995-2004

Joseph Nye was the Dean of John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University from 1995 to 2004. His government service includes posts as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs during the Clinton Administration. He was also the chairman of the National Intelligence Council.

His books include The Paradox of American Power: Why the World's Only Superpower Can't Go It Alone (2002) and Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics (2004).

He is also a contributor to The Globalist.

 


Akbar S. Ahmed
Ambassador, anthropologist and author

Dr. Ahmed has held many senior positions in Pakistan, including Pakistani High Commissioner (Ambassador) to the United Kingdom. Born in Allahabad, a small town on the Ganges River in what was then British India, Dr. Ahmed is a distinguished anthropologist, writer and filmmaker. He has been actively involved in inter-faith dialogue between Islam and the West — and is the Chair of Islamic Studies at American University in Washington, D.C.

His many award-winning books include Discovering Islam: Making Sense of Muslim History and Society and Islam Today: A Short Introduction to the Muslim World.

He is also a contributor to The Globalist.

 


Allan E. Goodman
President and CEO, Institute of International Education

Dr. Goodman has been President and CEO of the leading organization in the field of international educational exchange and development training since 1998.

Prior to that, Dr. Goodman was a Dean and a Professor at Georgetown University, taught at the Foreign Affairs College of Beijing — and helped create U.S. academic exchanges with Moscow and Vietnam. He also served in the Carter Administration.

He is the author of several books on international affairs, including A Brief History of the Future: The United States in a Changing World Order (1992).


 

Gurcharan Das
Author, columnist and Indian business executive

Gurcharan Das is a columnist for the Times of India and the former CEO of Procter & Gamble India. He also is the Chairman of the Board of Citibank India. In addition, he is a venture capitalist — and serves as a consultant to industry and government leaders in New Delhi.

He is the author of three plays (including the renowned "Larins Sahib") and several works of nonfiction, including India Unbound (2001) and the Elephant Paradigm (2002).

He is also a contributor to The Globalist.

 


Lester Brown
President of the Earth Policy Institute

Lester Brown is an award-winning environmental analyst and founder and president of the Earth Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. In 1974, Lester Brown founded Worldwatch Institute. The institute's "State of the World" reports, developed under his stewardship, are considered by many to be the bible of the global environmental movement.

Lester Brown is the author of several books including Eco-Economy: Building and Economy for the Earth (2001), The Earth Policy Reader (2002) and Plan B: Rescuing a Planet under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble (2003).

He is also a contributor to The Globalist.
