Spring 2008
Internships
The
Globalist is looking for interns with a keen interest in global
issues and working in a dynamic, multicultural, team-oriented environment.

Economic
research internships

Economic research interns will work under the guidance of The
Globalist's research and editorial staff. They will collect and analyze macro-
and micro-economic data on a wide ranging of topics and
prepare their findings for publication in short reports.

| |
Research
interns should be highly proficient in Internet research and
data collection. They should also be thoroughly familiar with
data analysis and presentation in Microsoft Excel, including
graphing and charting functions. Proficiency with PowerPoint,
Photoshop, and web editing tools such as Dreamweaver is a strong
plus.

Journalism
internships
|

Journalism
interns will work closely with The Globalist's editorial staff
in preparing, editing and fact-checking features as well as
working with the layout and publication of the website. They
will see the tangible results of their work made available to
readers worldwide.

Beyond
general internship requirements, journalism interns should have
solid writing experience. Familiarity with web editing tools
such as Dreamweaver is helpful.
|
Marketing
internships
|
| |
Our marketing interns will assist senior staff in a variety
of media outreach activities and the marketing of our executive
briefing and e-learning products.
|
| |
Marketing
interns should have good organizational and communication skills,
as well as the ability to research, analyze and utilize market
data.
|
Information
technology/Web internships
|
| |
Primary
responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software
problems, testing proprietary databases and programs, and creating
and maintaining Web pages.
|
| |
You
will gain experience in working with various databases, programming
and web application languages, including Access, SQL, C++, C#,
Visual Basic.NET and ASP.NET. |
Our
interns generally meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment
in an under/graduate program in international studies, economics,
journalism, foreign languages, political science or other field
relevant to the internship position
- Excellent
writing, analytical, research and communications skills
- Fluency
in language(s) other than English
- International
experience through travel, living abroad or study-abroad programs
Our
internships are unpaid. During the academic semesters, interns
are expected to commit at least 16 hours a week to The Globalist.
Summer interns are expected to devote a minimum of 24 hours a week
to their internships.
