Sleepy Time With unemployment high and the economy still struggling along, pocketbook worries are preventing many Americans from getting a good night's sleep. We wonder: Which industrialized country's citizens spend the least time asleep per night? A) United States The right answer is D. South Koreans average about 7 hours and 49 minutes of sleep per night, the lowest figure among developed countries, according to OECD time-use surveys. At the other end of the scale, the French spend an average of 8 hours and 50 minutes asleep every night. They are the rich-world champs in sleeping in. The United States, believe it or not, isn't far behind, at 8 hours and 38 minutes. And America's neighbor to the south, Mexico, averages 8 hours and 21 minutes. |
