Global English as a Public Good

The English language brings the global community together

We believe that the English language is the world's most important global public good. It ultimately is the one tool that allows humankind to communicate — to resolve disputes and to find common ground.

That is why English does not belong to any nation, or set of nations. Instead, it lends itself to adoption regardless of nationality or cultural affinity — and becomes a crucial ingredient of any intercultural learning program.

he English language is probably the most compelling peace tool that the global community has at its disposal. Why? In this age of fragile global relations, the English language is the common denominator that brings much of the global community together.

Global English — for a global future

The English language is the world's most important global public good because it allows humankind to communicate and resolve disputes.

It is the key means for communication amongst people in global political, financial and cultural spheres — whether they live in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia or the Americas.

It is in this spirit that The Globalist publishes its features in "Global English" — not British English or American English.

More importantly, our content is not designed to advance the interests, value systems or perspectives of any one nation.

Values of fairness and inclusiveness

Rather, we embrace the concept of the global learning community — meaning that all nations and cultures offer vital insights and teach useful lessons.

It is in this spirit that The Globalist publishes its features in "Global English" — not British English or American English.

Our work is dedicated to helping the global community learn more about its diversity and creativeness, based on multicultural values of fairness and inclusiveness.

Our English-language features are designed to expose today's non-native English speaking students to the vocabulary and real-life situations that will enhance their understanding of the global future — and their own place in it.

Our multinational staff has lived, studied — or worked — in the United States, France, Germany, India, Russia, Spain, Italy, China, England, Vietnam, Singapore and Sweden.

And our team comes from a broad range of professional and academic backgrounds — including journalism, education, economics, history, political science, literature, international relations and law.

To date, our features have been published in over 60 publications in 40 countries. This not only attests to our high professional standards in creating original and unique content — but also to the broad global appeal of our features.
