Hugh Pope is currently the Wall Street Journal bureau chief in Istanbul, Turkey.

He studied Persian and Arabic at Oxford University and has reported extensively for the “Independent,” “Los Angeles Times,” “BBC” and “Reuters.”

He is author of “Sons of the Conquerors: The Rise of the Turkic World.” Hugh Pope is also the co-author of “Turkey Unveiled.”
