Sasha Issenberg is a journalist based in Philadelphia — and the author of “The Sushi Economy: Globalization and the Making of a Modern Delicacy,” — a non-fiction exploration of the international culture and business around sushi, published in May 2007.

Over two years, Issenberg traveled to fourteen countries on five continents, spending time on docks, in fish markets, cargo terminals and kitchens.

He has also written about business, politics and culture for Slate, The Washington Monthly, Inc., The Boston Globe and George, where he served as a contributing editor. He is currently a writer-at-large for Philadelphia.
