Sanjeev Sanyal is an Indian economist, environmentalist and urban theorist. He is Deutsche Bank’s Global Strategist and was named "Young Global Leader 2010" by the World Economic Forum.

He is widely regarded as one of Asia’s leading economists. He played an important role in changing the image of India as an international investment destination and is the author of the bestselling book "The Indian Renaissance: India’s Rise after a Thousand Years of Decline" (published by Penguin).

Mr. Sanyal was named Young Global Leader for 2010 by the World Economic Forum in Davos, an honor given to a select group of individuals below the age of 40 from around the world for their contributions across various disciplines including politics, academia, sports, business and art.

In 2008, CNBC profiled him as a "Young Turk" in recognition to his contributions to Asian financial markets. He was also awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship in 2007 for his work on urban systems.

From 1992 to 1995, he was a Rhodes Scholar representing India.
