Thiemo Fetzer is Professor of Economics at Warwick University and at the University of Bonn.

Professor Fetzer is also an Academic Visitor at the Bank of England, an Affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Fellow at the British National Institute for Social and Economic Research (NIESR).

His work cuts across many fields in economics, ranging from international trade, economic development and finance to spatial economics and comparative political economy. His research leverages frontier techniques from machine learning, artificial intelligence and computer science.

Thiemo has advised a range of government ministers and policy makers in G20 countries on issues around economic development and industrial policy.

His special focus is on the economic, social and institutional and political-economic adjustments that are necessary to counter the climate crisis and help shift societies out of the non-cooperative lose-lose equilibria.

His research has been featured in leading international media such as Bloomberg, New York Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, Le Monde, El Pais and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His work is actively discussed in policy circles and wider civil society.
