Swati Thiyagarajan

Swati Thiyagarajan is an award winning conservation journalist, documentary filmmaker and author.

She is Indian-born but currently lives in Cape Town, South Africa.

She was the Environment Editor at NDTV, India’s leading English-language TV news channel. Her show, Born Wild, was the longest running long-format wildlife show on a news channel.

Swati has won the Ramnath Goenka award for Best Environment Journalist twice as well as the Carl Zeiss Award for her reports and stories on the Tiger, amongst other awards.

She is currently the consulting Content Editor for Environment and Health related Special Campaigns on NDTV.

Her film, The Animal Communicator, is available on Amazon Prime US and has been viewed by over ten million people. She is also the author of a book, Born Wild: Journeys into the wild hearts of India and Africa.

She was the Associate Producer and Production Manager on the Academy Award winning documentary, My Octopus Teacher.

At present she works for The Sea Change Project, a conservation NPO, working on the long term conservation of the Great African Seaforest through science based multimedia storytelling.

Swati believes that we are all Born Wild, children of this planet and that recognizing we are part of nature ourselves and reconnecting with wild nature is the way to heal both humanity and the Planet.
