Amadou Kanoute

Regional Director for Africa at Consumers International

Amadou Kanoute has been Regional Director for Africa at Consumers International since May 2000.

He joined the organization in 1990, when he was appointed the Senegal regional director for West and Central Africa, based in Dakar.

Prior to that, he worked as the director for Joint-Programme IOCU-ENDA for West Africa, Environnement et Développement du Tiers Monde (ENDA T.M.). He also co-produced a weekly radio programme “Le Consommateur Averti” — which dealt with consumer education, information and protection — with the Senegalese Radio and Television Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr. Kanoute taught Industrial Marketing at Le Centre Africain d’Etudes Supérieur en Gestion in Dakar, after receiving a Master’s in Business Administration there. He specialized in Project Management and Evaluation.

Mr. Kanoute, who now resides in Zimbabwe, was born in Thiès, Senegal, which is the second-largest city in the country and is located 70km east of Dakar, the capital.
