Darrel Whitten is currently director of new business development for the IR Corporation, a Tokyo-based investor relations consultancy serving both Japanese and foreign listed companies.

Mr. Whitten has lived and worked in Japan for the past three decades — originally as a communications engineer for the U.S. government.

He has been following the Japanese financial markets for over 20 years, first as an investment analyst, then as a director of equity research and chief equity strategist for two major investment banks, Lehman Brothers Japan and ABN AMRO Securities Japan.

He continues to analyze and write about Japan’s financial markets as founder of Asian Business Watch.com.

Mr. Whitten graduated from Sophia University in Tokyo — and is fluent in Japanese.
