Elaine M. Grossman has been a freelance journalist since 2014. She was previously executive editor and senior correspondent at National Journal’s Global Security Newswire and a National Journal special correspondent.

Ms. Grossman’s reporting on national security and international affairs over two decades has garnered more than a dozen national journalism awards, including top honors for investigative, analytical and breaking-news journalism from the National Press Club and the Society for Professional Journalists.

Her freelance articles have appeared in the Daily Beast, the Atlantic, U.S. News & World Report, Boston Globe, Miami Herald, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Christian Science Monitor, among other news outlets.

Ms. Grossman has been a visiting scholar at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and earned a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She lives in Arlington, Virginia.
