Katinka Barysch is Director of Political Relations at Allianz in Munich. Until June 2013, Ms. Barysch was Deputy Director of the Centre for European Reform (CER), an independent London-based think tank devoted to strengthening the EU’s role in the world. Ms. Barysch is an expert on European economics, Germany, the euro, Turkey, Eastern Europe and questions of energy security.

She joined CER in 2002 as Chief Economist and has since acted as an adviser to several EU governments, the House of Lords, the World Economic Forum, as well as various multinational corporations, financial institutions and business federations. She has published widely and regularly comments on European developments in the media.

Ms. Barysch previously worked as an Analyst and Editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit in London and as a consultant in Brussels. She is a Member of the advisory boards of FINCA, a micro-credit charity, and the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF). Barysch earned an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
