Tariq Ramadan is a professor of philosophy at the College of Geneva and a professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

In 2004, he also held the post of professor of Islamic Studies in the Classics Department and Luce Professor of Religion, Conflict and Peacebuilding at the Kroc Institute at Notre Dame University in the United States.

Tariq Ramadan had to resign that post due to the revocation of his visa by the U.S. administration.

He has authored and co-authored over 20 books and over 700 articles dealing with the issues of Muslims in the West and Islamic revival in the Muslim world.

In 2000, Tariq Ramadan was named one of “Time” magazine’s 100 most important innovators for the 21st century.
