Claude Salhani is a senior editor at the Trend News Agency. He was formerly editor of the Middle East Times and a contributing editor to United Press International. His reporting focuses on Middle East issues and terrorism.

His book While the Arab World Slept: The Impact of the Bush Years on the Middle East, was published by Xlibris in 2009. He is also the author of “Islam Without a Veil: Kazakhstan’s Path of Moderation” (2011) and “Black September to Desert Storm: A Journalist in the Middle East” (1998).

Mr. Salhani has been based in Beirut, Cairo, Paris, Brussels, London, New York and Washington. He was a nominee for the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of bombing of U.S. Marines in Beirut in 1983.
